Honeymoon - Monday
After spending a second wonderful night at the B&B we left to head south to Lincoln City. However, since the direct drive is rather short, and being the photographers that we are, and not being able to miss an opportunity to make a short drive take all day we decided to head a little bit north and take the 3 Capes Scenic Drive which starts in Tillamook and heads south along the coast, past 3 lighthouses and some amazing views. http://pacificcity.org/3capes/drive.html Our first stop was an amazing vantage point looking north up the coast and across Tillamook Bay. There had apparently been a landslide, probably last winter, that created this amazing vista.
And of course, our after wedding decorations as staying firmly in place.
The next stop just up the road was Cape Mears State Park, home of Cape Mears Lighthouse, the shortest lighthouse in Oregon, the largest Sitka Spruce tree in Oregon, and the Octopus Tree. We missed the largest Spruce tree, but did make the short hike to the Octopus Tree. It was pretty impressive to say the least.

This view is looking south down the coast and toward Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge. http://www.fws.gov/oregoncoast/3archrocks/
These rocks are home to thousands and thousands of nesting seabirds.

Our first glimpse of the light house.
This is looking north and more nesting grounds for seabirds.

The black specks on the top of this rock are birds. Thousands of them.

Another peak of the lighthouse.

I thought this little girl walking to the lighthouse was so adorable.

A better view of the sea birds.
And then, when we got down to the lighthouse and we looking north we caught a glimpse of some military jets in the sky. I assumed they were the fighters out of Portland on a practice run.
It wasn't until we got home and were looking at the pictures that we discovered it was actually the Blue Angels we were watching. Pretty cool in my book. We watched them fly south a bit so a few maneuvers and then they headed back north and past us.

Our next stop was in Oceanside where we looked northward toward Cape Mears. It was rather windy and a little on the cold side so we didn't stay there long.
This is another view looking south down the coast at a viewpoint off Hwy 101 north of Lincoln City.

We finally arrived in Lincoln City and Inn at Spanish Head where we were going to spend the 3rd night. What an impressive hotel. It is built right into the side of the hill.
Our room was on the second floor, above the pool. Nice for close access to the beach. Not so nice when the fire alarm went off about 10 minutes after we got in the room and we had to climb 7 flights of stairs to evacuate. Seriously...they won't let you evacuate to the beach.
