My Sparkly :)

When Brian proposed he had not gotten a ring. He wanted it to be something that we picked out together. Let me first say, and I apologize if I offend anyone, but there are some very ugly rings out there. I had no idea what I wanted and Brian kept telling me how much he liked his mom's simple solitaire and band, then I realized that I also very much liked a similar setting that my mom had. We had first looked at a couple of stores in Eugene, but after not finding anything either of us liked we decided that getting a ring was not something we should rush into and would give it some time.

Last weekend Brian came up and we went out to the Shane Co. We had checked out there website and gotten several ideas for things we liked. Can I say that I was very impressed with them. The service was amazing!!! Neither of us has any experience in purchasing diamonds and other then some reading on the web came into the store very green. The sales people were very patient to explain everything and gave us just enough samples to look at. It didn't take long for us to both agree on which ring to get. In fact when the salesperson brought it out, Brian's comment was "Wow does that sparkle!!" I knew from that comment it was the ring I wanted. I LOVE IT!!!! I have never owned anything so beautiful and feel so privileged that he wanted to get it for me.

I picked up the ring yesterday and for now it is safely stored away in it's box until Valentines Day when we are meeting in Salem for dinner and Brian gets to propose all over again and put it on my finger. I can hardly wait.

As for our other wedding plans. Things are moving along slowly. We have picked a tentative date - July 26, 2007. It is only tentative in that I need to get a firm commitment from the pastor at church we want to marry us before the church will put it in stone and right now he is uncertain of his plans for this summer. This particular pastor I have know for almost 20 years and can't imagine anyone else doing the ceremony. So please pray that all the details will get worked out. We should know in a month.

Although we had originally wanted to get married on the coast, the logistics and cost made that prohibitive. So instead we are going to get married here in Vancouver, but not at my home church because the building is just to institutional for me. Late last year our church purchased a beautiful old building in Downtown Vancouver that used to be an old church and well become the West Campus for our church. Although part of the building is undergoing renovations the sanctuary area is untouched, complete with beautiful stained glass windows. So if all goes well that is where the ceremony will be. Our wedding coordinator is excited, she has done one other wedding there and said that it is just really moving to stand in the same place that 100 years ago another couple may have gotten married.
